Waiting

last sunday, went adults service with Fiona.
chanced upon the Nehemiah series, very ept and in sync with what i am going through for the past few months.
Nehemiah wanted to rebuild this wall. While he was serving the king as a cupbearer, his heart was with his people, his homeland, things that he cared for. However he stayed put. It must be a dreadful long period of waiting for him. as well as us whom waiting for things to change, to work out itself.
"Between the wish and the thing life lies waiting "Waiting is hardwork, that we often deliberately forced to wait. it is like a stretching exercise before the real thing. the preparation. imagine before a player start playing badminton, he plunged straight in without even the initial stretching.
he might lose momentum, or he might not have a chance to prepare his heart for the real game. or he end up injuring his muscles.
Waiting stretches our faith. and waiting helps us to be patient, to learn, so that we would not make the wrong decision, get into wrong relationships. However it doesnt mean we do not do anything. Nehemiah continued to call upon God continuously. The more you want it, the more you call out to Him. and it doesnt mean we stop what we are doing. in fact, what we are doing might pave the way to His ultimate purpose.. He continued to serve the king instead of leaving, waiting for the correct timing. that his faithfulness worked it out.. both his effort and God opened the king's heart.
" Let Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us,
in proportion to our waiting and hoping for You" Psalms 33:22can sense how much he enlarges my heart as i waited upon You.
They are not wasted. but they are not enough because they are more that you want to pour out to us.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change." James 1:17Labels: God, my life
